I’ve written about Uncle Ernie’s Beach Bar, located on Shoal Bay East in Anguilla, on the blog before. After Hurricane Irma came through in 2017, there was some question as to whether or not this longtime Anguilla beach bar would reopen. I had heard rumblings online about this or that and finally received confirmation that it was indeed going to reopen. It’s no longer the bright shade of green that used to make it stand out against...
Beach Bar Pic of the Week – Roy’s Bayside Grill, Anguilla

One restaurant/beach bar that’s always a must visit for me on Anguilla is Roy’s Bayside Grill. Located at the southern end of the beach on Road Bay in Sandy Ground, Roy’s has become a breakfast mainstay for us. The value is tremendous (in my opinion, the best on the island), especially if you’re staying in Sandy Ground and don’t have to take a taxi somewhere. The restaurant sustained a lot of damage from Irma in 2-17 but has come back...

If you’ve followed this blog for any length of time, you’ll know how big a fan I am of the Sunshine Shack, a beach bar located in Anguilla. After my first visit to this Caribbean paradise, I named it my favorite beach bar on the island. That’s high praise, considering the country is home to world famous beach bars such as the Dune Preserve and Elvis’. This photo is courtesy of our friends over at Caribbean Soul Trekkers who I also met...

Johnno’s Beach Stop and Dad’s Bar and Grill, two beach bars located in Sandy Ground, Anguilla, were destroyed by fire overnight. Initial videos and images from the scene show a complete loss of both iconic beach bars. The cause of the blaze is not known at this time. Dad’s Bar and Grill had this to say on their Facebook page: “There are no words …. Dad’s is burning to the ground as I send this. Fire spreading … Johnno’s...

Droning Around Road Bay, Sandy Ground, Anguilla

It’s no secret how much Road Bay and Sandy Ground in Anguilla mean to me. I always describe it as “coming home.” With its shore lined by beach bars from the north point to the southern end, it’s a given that this stretch of beach would be like a home away from home for me. It’s not just the beach bars and restaurants, though. It’s the people who call it home, who go to work there every day and who...
