13 Glorious Minutes at Da Conch Shack and Rum Bar, Turks and Caicos Islands

Tagged: , , , ,

When it comes down to conversations about who has the best beach bars in the Caribbean, the Turks and Caicos Islands are often included in that discussion. With beaches as pretty as any you’ll find in the Caribbean, their shores are prime spots for some of the best beachfront watering holes. From the white sands on the world famous Providenciales to the favorites of cruisers on Grand Turk, visitors are sure to find a beach bar to meet their needs.

Unquestionably the most famous of all of them would have to be da Conch Shack. Featured on this blog numerous times over the years (John Wayne meets Jeff Gordon!), da Conch Shack is a favorite among beach bar bums and locals alike. If you find yourself is these islands, it would be a mistake to not have da Conch Shack on your itinerary, especially if you like conch. I mean, it’s in the name of the beach bar. šŸ™‚

Sadly, I have never been to da Conch Shack and that is when I rely on reports from our community as well as my friends and family. Another great resource is YouTube, where I discovered this wonderful 13 minute video the beach bar. Featuring a pleasant soundtrack and views of about every square inch of the grounds, the video is sure to feed your fire of getting back to one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Have you been to da Conch Shack and Rum Bar in the Turks and Caicos Islands? If so, let us know what you thought about it in the comments. Also, we all know the Caribbean is expensive but the TCI might take it to another level. Any advice on making travel to the Turks and Caicos Islands more affordable would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. Hi Tom. We have sort of met on the Beach Bar Bums Facebook group page. As you know I am the author of a book, Driftwood: Stories from the Margarita Road. It has won some nice awards, and Kirkus Magaizne named it one of the “Best Books of 2020.”

The book is about a group of people running away from the rat race and ending up living on the beach in Mexico. The entire book is told from the point of view of the local beach bar owner.

I am making the media rounds talking about the book on radio, podcasts and in blog interviews. I was wondering if it might be of interest for your blog readers? I can spin a pretty good yarn about life in a beach bar, since I owned a bar down by the Caribbean for 10 years.

You can look at the “Media” page on my website to read or listen to some of my other interviews. https://anthonyleehead.com/media/

Of course I would promote any interview with your blog on several social media sites as well as on my own pages. If this is of interest just let me know. Thanks.
