USVI’s Bolongo Bay Beach Resort Hoping and Planning for Reopening in Early June

Tagged: , , , ,

With the government of the US Virgin Islands extending its “closed to outsiders” date through the end of May, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, a major hotel on St. Thomas, announced on its Facebook page that it is planning to reopen June 8th. In the post, the message states “The US Virgin Islands has extended our closed dates for visitors through May 31 for now. Bolongo is hoping and planning to open June 8. This date will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks. Keep in touch, and please make sure you call us with your contact information so we can reach you.”

The date of a June 8th reopening is fluid as conditions can change on the ground week to week and even day to day. For longtime visitors to this US territory, however, it comes as welcome news, especially for those who planned on traveling to the USVI this year, yours truly included. With our rescheduled spring break trip rescheduled for mid-December, the June 8th reopening hopefully gives the islands plenty of time to figure out what is best for their inhabitants while still reopening the tourism industry. After enjoying our first trip, we are excited about the possibility of returning this year!

As information changes, this article will be updated.

What do you think of Bolongo Bay’s planned reopening? Do you think it’s too soon or just in time? If the government says the island is back open for business, how soon do you plan on visiting? Let us know in the comments!
