A new year means one thing in the Caribbean beach bar world – it’s time for the annual 10Best contest to name the region’s best beach bars. This year’s finalists were chosen by a two person panel (a job I’m still waiting to be called about) – Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon, known popularly as Jet Set Sarah, and Melanie Reffes. While the panel is certainly a knowledgeable one, maybe some representation from the opposite sex might be helpful? Maybe? USA Today – you know how to get a hold of me.
The finalists this year to name the Caribbean’s best beach bars include longtime popular favorites such as Da Conch Shack in Turks and Caicos, the BVI’s Soggy Dollar Bar, Floyd’s Pelican Bar in Jamaica and St. Maarten’s Sunset Beach Bar.
A few less well known beach bars occupy spots on the list – they include Pearl Beach on St. Barts, Oceano in Puerto Rico and Gizmo’s in the aforementioned St. Maarten. One special note – longtime beach bar bums favorite, the Sunshine Shack, which we named our favorite beach bar on Anguilla way back in January, 2015, makes the list of finalists for the first time.
Speaking of Anguilla – while I didn’t get a spot on the panel, I did get an image in the contest. The picture of Elvis’ Beach Bar was taken by yours truly! Maybe that will get me one step closer to the panel. Anyone?
Voting to name the top Caribbean beach bars goes through noon Easter time on Feburary 3rd. Winners will be announced on February 14th.
Don’t delay – cast your vote for the top Caribbean beach bars of 2020!
