One of the beaches I get asked the most often about is Orient Beach in St. Martin. Located on the east side of the island and home to a multitude of beach bars, Orient Beach experienced significant damage from Hurricane Irma. The beach continues to make its comeback and as you can see from the above video, the beach bars are a big part of that.
Kontiki has been an integral part of the beach bar scene on Orient Beach and its reopening is a positive sign for the rest of the beach bars that used to occupy this beach. Throughout the video, which tours most of the property, you can witness a beach bar fully back in business and ready to welcome customers.
The island of St. Martin/Maarten has a ways to go before it’s back to its former glory but don’t let that dissuade you from visiting. Kontiki and Orient Beach are indicative of the rest of the island and your support as tourists is vital to ensuring their recovery continues.
To find out more about Kontiki Beach Bar, you can check them out on Facebook.
Have you been to Kontiki or any of the other beach bars on Orient Bay since Irma? If so, what was your experience? Let us know in the comments!
