One of the first beach bars I can still vividly remember visiting for the first time is Shipwreck Beach Bar on South Friars Bay in St. Kitts. It’s one of the first beach bars I fell in love with and where my search began for the green flash. I can still remember sitting on the beach and waiting for the sun to set with Shipwreck’s appropriately titled Green Flash cocktail. Not seeing the green flash that night was a disappointment … as was the cocktail. I sure hope they’ve improved on the recipe since then!
If you’ve been to Shipwreck, you’ll recognize this view looking southeast towards Nevis. It’s one of the most popular points of view when it comes to beach bars and if you stick around long enough, you’ll be able to catch another popular view – sunset. If you haven’t been to St. Kitts, make sure Shipwreck and the rest of the beach bars on this beach are on your list of things to do. At one point, the beach bars on South Friars had been told to move but somehow, they’re still around.
