I’ve spent two weeklong vacations in Antigua, exploring its beach bars spread out over 365 different beaches. For some reason, I never made it to Darkwood Beach and its eponymously named Darkwood Beach Bar. Having stayed just north of it on Jolly Beach and just south of it on Turner’s Beach, I can’t even offer up a good excuse for not taking a minute or two to stop by.
Luckily for the rest of us, beach bar bum Polly Terry made it a priority and snapped this wonderful image of the view from Darkwood Beach Bar. The view is spectacular, as it is from all of the southwest beaches on Antigua (or find out why you might want to avoid the island altogether). How I managed to skip right over this particular point of view, however, is beyond me and this image is further proof that I need to conduct more in-person “research” in Antigua.
And in case you’re wondering, don’t be like me. Make Darkwood Beach Bar a priority for any visit to the island. I certainly plan to on my next visit.
