Beach Bar Pic of the Week – Bomba Shack, Tortola, British Virgin Island

Tagged: , , , , , ,

The Bomba Shack, a beach bar located on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, might not be the most appropriate as its future is in doubt. Destroyed in Hurricane Irma, the world famous beach bar, which regularly showed up on “best beach bar” lists, has been told it needs to relocate by the current land owners.

Where Bomba Shack ultimately ends up probably won’t be decided anytime soon. If it ever comes back is the bigger question. If so, what will it look like? Will it still retain the charm of the old location? Beach bars like Bomba aren’t built with character – they’re earned over the years and countless full moon parties, rum punches and stories told at its rickety bar. It would be a shame to say goodbye to the Bomba Shack forever but we’ll always have memories, and pictures like this one, to remind us of one of the greatest beach bars ever.

  1. Sad to say but the Bomba Shack was completely destroyed by Erma. All that’s left is a 10×10 slab of concrete. Bomba is living across the street in a one room shack. He’s doing good, but probably not a chance that there will be another Bomba Shack. We were there in September

    • Thanks for the update, Vickie. Sad to see this institution disappear like that.
