One of the easiest questions I get asked is “We’re going to Bali. Which beach bars go you recommend?” After my seething jealousy calms down, I mutter “Rock Bar. No brainer.” Alternately known as Rock Bar Bali, Rock Bar is located at the Ayana Resort on a peninsula at the southern tip of the island. Situated cliff side with multiple levels offering spectacular sunset views, Rock Bar is “the be all end all” for aficionados of both beach bars and cocktail bars.
While some may question Rock Bar Bali’s label as a beach bar, I have no qualms about it. Much like the previously featured Carambola Beach Club in St. Kitts, Rock Bar offers beach lovers the ultimate luxury with one aim – an experience you won’t forget. From incomparable views of the Indian Ocean to its world-class cuisine and finely crafted cocktails and the daily sunsets that bathe them all in a warm glow, Rock Bar was created to leave you with memories that won’t soon be forgotten. Its presence on most of the “best bars of the world” lists is well earned. I describe it as “my favorite bar I’ve never been to.” I think it’s earned that title.
All images of Bali’s Rock Bar except one at bottom are courtesy of Tracy Walda (You can find more of her work at Tracy Green Photography), who has bestowed upon herself the title of “best neighbor ever” even though we all know that’s actually me. She was kind enough to go to Bali without me (it was her honeymoon so I guess that’s a good excuse) and went to Rock Bar just so she could send me pics to remind me that she had been there before me. All rights to the photographs are reserved by her.
She remarked that while the food options were light, what they did offer was tasty. Also, in what will probably come as no surprise to anyone who has visited Rock Bar, she noted that the drinks were great as well – “we made sure to try multiples and all of them were fantastic.” And get there early – the super popular bar fills up fast!

Have you been here? If so, let me know what you think in the comments. Since it’s impossible for me to visit every single beach bar I post about on the site, the comments from readers like you allow others who are interested in checking out these beach bars hear from people who have actually been there and let them read unbiased reviews.
