Consisting of a circular covered main bar and extended pier for additional seating, Key West, Florida’s Sunset Pier (formally Sunset Pier Tiki Bar and Grill) is located at the northwest corner Mallory Square. Part of Ocean Key Resort & Spa, the waterfront bar is adorned with colorful chairs painted seemingly with every color of the rainbow. The tourist destination earns in moniker honestly – patrons may come for the drinks, food and camaraderie but the daily sunsets are the show stopper.
With Sunset Key about a third of a mile off in the distance and chartered and private boats slowly skimming over the calm waters, the sunset views from Sunset Pier are incomparable, especially in the Key West area. I found myself shooting an endless number of sunset pics the two days we were able to enjoy the spectacle, searching for the perfect angle and perfect second for the perfect shot. I’m still not sure if I found it but it was a lot of fun trying.
If you’re considering a visit to Key West, put Sunset Pier squarely at the top of your to do list, especially around sunset. It will be busy so get there early, grab a front row spot and ready your camera and/or phone. You won’t regret it.
NOTE
Per the website, as of May 22, 2018 – “Seating on the pier itself is not available while repairs are being accomplished.”

Have you been here? If so, let me know what you think in the comments. Since it’s impossible for me to visit every single beach bar I post about on the site, the comments from readers like you allow others who are interested in checking out these beach bars hear from people who have actually been there and let them read unbiased reviews. Kind of like the Trip Advisor for beach bars! So please, feel free to chime on in – we’d love to hear your opinion!

I was going to note that the actual “pier” part was damaged by Irma, and still is not open. Glad to see your update on it, but the photo is still misleading.
