When you first step fool on the island of St. John, located in the US Virgin Islands, you’re quickly offered ample evidence of why so many visitors end up making it their permanent home. A further tour of the island only reinforces that idea. With its natural beauty taking center stage, the island leaves a lasting impression and an inner desire to return for a longer (or even permanent) stay.
St. John took a beating this hurricane season and in today’s 24 hour news cycle, it was quickly shuffled to the side as events deemed more “ratings worthy” took center state. That hasn’t stopped the people who love the island from helping in its recovery, however.
St. John Villa Rentals has launched a fundraiser to help local charities continue their work. And they’re not just asking for your money – you could get some pretty cool St. John-inspired items in return.
The rules are simple – all you have to do is make a donation of a minimum of $5.00 and tell them in 200 characters or less why you love St. John. Donations will be made through PayPal and a winner for each essay “will be chosen by our round table of “rum scholars” and St John lovers.”
Sound like fun? You can go here to find out more about the contest and enter to win the initial prize – this kick ass guitar! Including images of a turtle, palm trees and of course a beach bar, the guitar comes with a special label commemorating Love City’s survival from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Time to go – gotta get started on my essay!
