Aubrey Levons, the owner of the world famous Big Bamboo beach bar, restaurant and cottages on the island of Anegada in the British Virgin Islands, has passed away at the age of 72. According to the this article from virginislandnewsonline.com, Mr. Levons passed away at his home early this past Friday, November 3rd, four days shy of his 73rd birthday.
The acting Premier of the Government of the British Virgin Islands released a statement describing Mr. Levons as “a man of many words with a passion for these Virgin Islands” and “a strong community activist for the people of Anegada.” He went on to state that the “passing is a great loss to the Anegada community and to the wider Territory. His contributions to the tourism and cultural development of the Territory are invaluable and he will be greatly missed and will long be remembered as one of Anegada’s icons.”
