With the relaxing of travel restrictions for Americans to the Caribbean nation of Cuba, travel to this island for my own personal relaxing has been on my mind a lot lately. While the documentation of beach bars has proven a little difficult, one aspect of this nation has not – it’s most popular beach. Located about 75 miles east of Cuba, Varadero Beach pokes itself into Bahia de Cardenas like a stick thing finger, seemingly protecting the bay from the open water in the Straits of Florida. Already lined with resorts catering to those who don’t carry a US passport, pics of the beach at Varadero are enticing enough to make the hassle of getting there worth it. Now I just need to figure out how to get there.
