Once we had settled on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands as our destination of choice of our annual winter trip, choosing Emerald Beach Resort as the spot to call home for the week was a pretty easy decision. It checked off all the boxes for my major requirements when considering a resort – affordable, westerly facing beach for my daily sunsets, beachfront rooms, pool and of course, a beach bar.
It was Emerald Beach Resort’s beach bar that grabbed my attention first (no surprise there). You see, the resort had created their own Facebook page for their beach bar and you rarely see that. For someone who values the importance of being able to sip on a cocktail steps away from the sand, that was a big deal to me and exemplified how much of a draw they considered their beach bar to be. The Facebook page was updated frequently, with almost daily pics teasing me from afar and once I looked into the resort a little more and found it was in our price range, I was hooked.
Emerald Beach Resort also consists of all beachfront rooms, meaning there is no upgrade fee to get on the beach – simply book one of their affordable rooms and there you are … on the beach at Lindberg Bay, an added plus for someone working on a budget. Toss in convenient patios and balconies and you may be tempted to never leave your room except, you know, for the beach.
Did I mention Emerald Beach Resort’s location? You could walk there from the airport if you wanted to since it’s only half a mile from the terminal exit. Don’t underestimate that convenience – not only does it result in lower transfer fares, it allows you to arrive at the resort earlier and leave later than guests staying at resorts located further away on the island. The time saved results in extra time at the beach and beach bar, a valuable commodity when you know you’re headed back to less-than-ideal weather.
You’ll be hearing more from me about Emerald Beach Resort and its beach bar in the future. While on our trip, I’ll be taking over their Instagram account so be sure and follow it for a guest’s view of their property, amenities and the people who make it special. You can also follow along on all social media by searching for the hashtag “#bbbusbvi.” I’ll be using it on all my updates and blog articles during the trip and after. I’ll also be utilizing Facebook Live videos for the first time so check out my Facebook page for the latest updates and prepare yourself for the possible hilarity or utter meltdown that ensues.

Emerald Beach Resort is providing me with a room credit during my stay but this will not influence my opinions. The strength of the rum punches might but not the credit.

I’m looking forward to your follow-up posts! Emerald Beach Resort and the whole Lindbergh Bay is a great place to stay. Lindbergh Bay Beach is one of the most pristine on the island, and it’s ideal for guests who prefer a less busy location. One thing I’d point out is that, while the resort is within walking distance from the airport, it’s really better to hire a taxi or shuttle. The road can be busy and it’s not really set up for pedestrian traffic, so most locals recommend using transportation to get you there. Also, there are some excellent snorkeling tours that can take you to good locations at Water Island or off the West End of St. Thomas, but it’s easy to get virtually anywhere on the islands by taxi, rental car, or private tour for sightseeing, tours, beach hopping, and shopping. It’s also quick and easy to take the ferry from Red Hook over to St. John, so you can spend a day on our neighboring island and visit the Virgin Islands National Park as well. If you’re looking for more information to plan a stay, we run a small business on St. Thomas that provides online trip planning advice and tour booking for the Virgin Islands. We provide virtual concierge service for a number of resorts, and our public website is also a great resource. If anyone is looking for blog articles on things to do, dining, shopping, and how to get around St. Thomas, we have some great information from a local perspective. You can also book all the top tours and activities at the lowest available prices because we work directly with the tour operators. Feel free to check us out at http://www.caribbaconnect.com, and thanks for spreading the love about the islands. We always look forward to more people coming to visit!
