Beach Thursday Pic of the Week – Baby Beach, Aruba

Tagged: , , , ,

When we first started making trips to the Caribbean on an annual basis, one of the first destinations we were able to visit was Aruba. Somehow we got lucky on a deal and booked a stay at the Tamarijn Aruba, an all-inclusive resort located on Drulf Beach, a couple miles south of the famous Palm Beach on Aruba’s western coast. I can still remember reading about Baby Beach and how it was a local’s beach, about as far away as you could get on the island from the hordes occupying Palm Beach. While I’m not sure of its current status as primarily a beach for people who call Aruba home, you can see why the locals would want to keep this place a secret. It’s the perfect crescent-shaped beach with sand as white and fine and you’ll find anywhere else on the island with the only difference being that there aren’t any towering monuments to man’s progress blocking out the morning sun. I guess if I lived on the island, I’d want to keep it a secret, too.

The calm waters of Baby Beach in Aruba can be attributed to the reef protecting its narrow entrance.
