Anguilla Great House Opens Coconuts Beach Bar

When Coconuts Beach Bar recently opened at Anguilla Great House, you probably couldn’t have found someone outside of Anguilla more excited about this little noticed opening than myself. I had already been considering a stay at this resort for our next visit to the island and when I heard that they now had a full-fledged beach bar on site, it made the choice even easier. Sure, I’ll probably spend more time at other beach bars but at least Anguilla Great House recognized what a lot of other resorts have – instead of letting our guests wander off property to other beach bars, why not build one ourselves? Sure, Coconuts is still going to have to figure out how to compete with the Dune Preserve and the Sunshine Shack but at least they’re giving it a go, right?

There is limited information about Coconuts Beach Bar online. They have a Facebook page but it hasn’t been updated since December. The website for the resort is building a new website so it’s not very useful at the moment. An Anguilla forum on Trip Advisor has the most information but it hasn’t been commented on since January.

Luckily for all of us, though, Rob and Michelle Belliveau, two of my favorite beach bar bums ambassadors (I’m sure that would look really good on a resume!) were on the island just a couple weeks ago and were able to get some great pictures of it. It appears to be located pretty close to the water and the palm trees towering over it offer convenient shade to those enjoying a seat at the outdoor tables. While it lacks the appeal of the typical throwback classic beach shacks many of us love, something tells me most of its patrons won’t mind when they’re enjoying the incredible view.

While it remains to be seen whether or not Coconuts Beach Bar will become a destination spot for visitors to the island, it’s a convenience for the guests of Anguilla Great House that they didn’t have before and for the people that run this resort, that might just be good enough.
