Immersed in the Moment at Anguilla’s Sunshine Shack

Tagged: , , , , ,

There are moments you get to witness personally or that are brought to your attention that remind us what it is we love about beach bars. I’ve tried to put it into words but like most everything else, it really needs to be experienced in person. Until then, this video of Garvey Lake performing an original song he wrote called “Reasonings” at the Sunshine Shack, his beach bar on Rendezvous Bay in Anguilla, will have to suffice. The song is based on things he heard/witnessed from friends and was included on one of his early CDs with the Satisfaction Band, a group he formed in the early 2000s.

I’ve played the video quite a few times already and imagine that it was a special moment for all of those in attendance. The performance’s original role was to entertain the lucky few who were there in person but now serves as a gentle nudge for the rest of us to get back to the beach and our favorite beach bar where life slows down, the rest of the world fades away and we can just enjoy the moment for what it is.

  1. So this article is really cool! Thank you for taking the time to feature Garvey, the SSS, and his music. Extremely talented Anguillian who happens to run one of the best beach bars on the planet and sings and plays guitar on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
