Everything’s bigger in Texas, so the saying goes, and when it comes to the backyard tiki bar of Ruben and Crystal Rios, those four words couldn’t ring more true. And it’s not just a bar – it’s a whole vilage, full of tiki trappings around every corner that have turned this backyard into an escape many resorts would be proud of.
If I could start a new blog that featured just their backyard, I would. If I could actually write the articles from their backyard, well, that would be just about perfect. Alas, I can’t so instead I have to admire it from afar, mainly via Instagram where Ruben has taken the time to post pics of his tiki paradise. They’re enough to make you want to move to whatever neighborhood he lives in and instead of them bringing you a “Welcome to the neighborhood!” basket full of goodies, you would bring them a bottle of rum with an opening statement something along the lines of “Can we be besties?”
Ruben recently shared some images of his tiki bar on Instagram, noting that he was three years into the project, so I thought I would take the time to share them with you. He did a lot of the work himself, including the lighting and electrical, and painted the concrete counter tops and built the Bahamas shutters. It’s been three years and a lot of sweat equity but I think you’ll all agree that the project where it stands today has been well worth it. Congrats on your milestone, Ruben! Now go have a drink and celebrate – you’ve earned it!
To check out the rest of Ruben’s backyard tropical paradise, you can follow him on Instagram.
If you’d like your images to be featured on the blog, use the #beachbarbums tag and I’ll try and get you in. If you have a travel blog or personal website, I also try and post links to those whenever possible. I occasionally give away free stuff to some of my favorites so that’s pretty cool, I guess. Plus, the blog gets around 600 views a day and the article is shared to all of my social media sites – you’ll never find a more dedicated group of beach bar lovers anywhere! If you’d like me to write an article featuring just your photos, send me an email at info at beach bar bums dot com and we’ll talk it over. Cheers!
