Moonsplash, the annual reggae music festival that takes place in Anguilla at Bankie Banx’s Dune Preserve beach bar (he’s the host – hence, the venue), just officially announced the 2016 dates and it is officially scheduled for April 21 -24. Well, as official as a post on their Facebook page can be, I guess. Keep in mind that the “official” dates for this past spring’s event changed so proceed with booking any travel plans at your own risk.
Moonsplash 2016’s dates are about a month later in the year than the previous event but if I recall correctly, it’s actually scheduled around the phases of the moon so you kind of just have to go with the flow and schedule it when the moon is where you need it to be.
The Moonsplash 2016 peeps are taking suggestions for musical performers on their Facebook page so if you have a favorite you’d like to see on the beaches of Anguilla, get on over there and let your voice be heard. I put in a word for the Mighty Mystic. His performance this year was a pleasant surprise among the concert goers and with a new album coming out in early 2016, it would make sense to have him as a headliner. Plus, he’s a really cool dude so that’s a plus.
Artist lineup has been released. See comments section below for details. Of note, British Dependency will make an appearance and Mighty Mystic is heading up the Sunday beach party.
To read more about the Mighty Mystic’s performance and others as well, you can catch my recap here. And if you plan on heading to Anguilla, this article features a beach bar hopping itinerary to keep you busy when you’re not shakin’ what yo mama gave ya at the Dune. It’ll be a joyous time.
