Eccentry Holidays just released a list of their best Florida beach bars for vacationers, giving snow birds and people seeking warmer climes the world over a jump start on their all-important beachfront cocktail party planning. They’re a brave lot, narrowing down the Florida beach bar list to just three, and I admire their gumption. They didn’t leave it up to just themselves, however, as “these were the top rated choices by recent visitors to the Sunshine State.”
Number one on the list might be a surprise to fans of Florida beach bars and you’ll have to head to the Panhandle and Pensacola Beach to find it. Peg Leg Pete’s was voted number one, with Eccentry stating “its menu now features everything from Cajun shrimp to Key Lime Pie.” It’s also “located right on LaFitte Cove Marina, allowing guests to cruise their boat right in for a quick bite to eat and a refreshing drink.”
A personal favorite comes in at number two with the ever expanding Sharky’s on the Pier in Venice Beach representing southwest Florida. Offering “a multi-layered experience so guests can enjoy an elevated panoramic view of a gorgeous sunset as they treat themselves to some of the coast’s best food and drink options.” Don’t forget the pier (it is in the name, after all) – it’s worth a walk to the end, if just to take in the major complex that Sharky’s has grown into.
Number three takes us back north to Flagler Beach and the Golden Lion Café. Combining “a lively atmosphere” and “the relaxing ocean breeze,” the Golden Lion is “the perfect place to enjoy some unforgettable ocean views, amazing food and some of the best mixed drinks around.” Note – the press release states that the Golden Lion is on Florida’s west coast. Well, it’s not, unless someone picked up Flagler Beach and moved it. It’s firmly entrenched on the east coast.
