In case you didn’t know and needed another excuse to drink on this beautiful day, today is National Rum Day. As the unofficial spirit of the Caribbean, vacations to my favorite region in the world wouldn’t be complete without a belly full of rum punches and whatever other rum concoctions the locals come up with. It’s the dominant liquor of choice in the Florida Keys as well, which in all reality is the American Caribbean, so finding rum drinks at all the waterfront bars along Highway 1 and up and down Duval St. just seems natural.
