Think the phrase “affordable Anguilla” is an oxymoron? If you know where to look on the island, it doesn’t have to be. While Anguilla certainly has more than its fair share of high end resorts and restaurants, affordable options abound and today’s featured property not only offers you accommodations at an astoundingly low price but also provides some of the best food for the money you’ll find anywhere on this up and coming culinary capital of the Caribbean.
Roy’s Bayside Grill, located in Sandy Ground at the south end of the beach on Road Bay, has something that makes it unique among the myriad of restaurants and bars – on premise accommodations. Besides offering the best breakfast for the money I’ve had in Anguilla, daily $10 lunch specials and its popular Friday night happy hours featuring Roy’s famous Fish and Chips, the restaurant also has an apartment for rent. For just $500 per week ($75/night) in the offseason (May through October), you’ll be hard pressed to find a better overall value at a more convenient location.
Priced at only $700 per week ($110/night) in the high season, the apartment at Roy’s is located over the restaurant and has a fantastic view of Road Bay and its beautiful sunsets. A king bed studio, it comes with a kitchenette, full bath, seating area, air conditioning, outdoor patio, wifi and cable TV. It is a self-catering unit so daily service is not provided. And don’t forget that you can practically fall into Roy’s for your meals and drinks, although I would recommend taking the stairs.
While Roy and Mandy Bossons aren’t as involved in the day to day operations, their daughter Claire Lynch and her husband Patrick continue to run the restaurant with the same level of customer service and hospitality that patrons have come to expect since the original Roy’s opened up on Crocus Bay in the early 80s. Having had the chance to speak with both Claire and Patrick at length, I can tell you that your stay at Roy’s, whether it be for a meal or overnight, will be memorable and you’ll spend countless days looking forward to your next visit with your newest friends.
To book a stay at Roy’s, you can contact them via their website. You can also reach them through their Facebook page which is updated daily.

Loved it for a month and then the owner refused to serve me the Friday special after Michael informed me after a 28 minute wait that I had missed happy hour as I was left waiting. Michael the headwaiter had waited on me three days a week days as well as Gina….my favorite waitress on the island. Please Pull my glowing trip advisor review…..I can’t believe this treatment two days before my departure. I did not come for happy hour..now 53 minutes later…by a new waitress….she is as lovely and friendly as the wonderful Gina and Michael refused to serve me. The owner offered a free dinner which I refused but did agree to the free dessert…the best rum raisin bread pudding with ice cream. Shabby start…nice finish ….terrible way to end a peaceful month.w in win as dr greenwald tells me. I plan to return…a disagreeable misunderstanding. Kind and patient owner supportive of his staff.
