This week’s Friday Flickr Find is of Gus’ Beach Bar, located on Baie Rouge in St. Martin. The photo was taken by Paul Sableman in January of this year. I’m not sure how this beach bar never came up on our radar, seeing as how we just visited St. Martin six months ago.
Information related to Gus’ Beach Bar is limited online. It doesn’t have a website and no social media presence as far as I can tell. Reviews are limited and most often included in an overall review on Baie Rouge. Afar.com states that Gus’ “offers cheap (but well-made drinks), excellent food (think chicken and beef kebabs, french fries, and fresh vegetables), plus tables, shaded seating, and beach chairs for rent” while best-stmartin.com has a short summary and some images. Stmaarten.org calls it “an open-walled bar/barbecue stand where you can enjoy tasty grilled chicken & ribs, beer, soda, and other lunchtime favorites. You can also rent beach chairs, umbrellas, rafts, and snorkeling equipment at reasonable rates. There are two bars on the beach. So, ask for Gus; he’s a nice guy.”
