Today would have been Bob Marley’s 70th birthday and if there’s one artist that provides the soundtrack to life in the Caribbean, it’s Bob Marley. His music is ubiquitous and rightfully so. It’s the perfect backdrop to a day in the islands, able to wash away your cares as easily as the rays of the setting sun. Combine the two and you may just melt from all the relaxation.
This video was shot during our 2010 visit to Shirley Heights in Antigua. We had been to the island before back in 2007 and loved it so much that we broke our rule of not visiting an island twice before we were able to visit all of the other islands on our list. From our previous visit, we knew that a return to the sunset party at Shirley Heights would be on our itinerary and it should be on every visitor’s to do list while in Antigua. It’s simply not to be missed. The food is delicious, the music amazing and the view and atmosphere are intoxicating. There’s no better place to spend a Sunday evening.
Happy 70th birthday, Bob, and thanks for making your music to leave behind as your legacy. Caribbean sunsets just wouldn’t be the same without it.
