If it wasn’t for Cane Garden Bay on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, a return visit to Anguilla and St. Martin this year would be a no brainer. A beach bar bum’s dream, the beach at Cane Garden Bay is filled with famous beach bars such as Myett’s, Quito’s and Tony’s Welcome Bar (or the first name of whomever owns it now) and sunsets that keep you nice and warm just as the cool night air starts to move in. With images such as the one below constantly teasing me, it’s as hard for me to say “not” to Cane Garden Bay as it is to say no to a vodka tonic and if you know me, that’s pretty hard. It’s actually a struggle.
When I come across videos like this one, the argument for foregoing a return visit to Anguilla in favor of a trek to Cane Garden Bay becomes stronger. There’s just something about being able to wake up in your hotel and stumbling up and down the beach all day from beach bar to beach bar that just appeals to me. Hence, this blog. Throw in sunsets like this one to cap the perfect day and suddenly the word “paradise” doesn’t seem fitting enough to describe your current position in life.
I hear the phrase “It doesn’t get much better than this” bandied around social media like it’s a tether ball at the end of a rope but in this case, I think it’s apropos. It really doesn’t get much better than this.
