Watching the sunset over Road Bay in Sandy Ground, Anguilla is one of those moments in your life that remind you how lucky you are. It’s almost as if the beach around you is stuck on pause as the rest of the world keeps spinning on by. Scenes like this one, filmed on my last night in Anguilla, also remind me why I want a beach bar on a west facing beach. You can’t beat the show Mother Nature puts on each night and she won’t even charge you for admittance. It may cost your patrons some of their hard earned cash (I’m always trying to figure out how I can market a Green Flash drink and charge $15 for it – I’ll you keep the souvenir cup!) but they’ll gladly hand it over for the pleasure of letting their worries slide right off their back as they are slowly warmed by the rays from the setting sun.
It’s scenes like this that make me yearn for a lifetime filled with these memories and when that day finally becomes reality, I hope I never become so complacent that I start taking them for granted. Besides, my search for the green flash hasn’t yielded any results as of yet so a guy’s gotta keep on trying, right?
