Tom Cruise at a Beach Bar – Then and Now

Tagged: , , , , , ,

I don’t know if Tom Cruise slinging drinks at a beach bar in the movie “Cocktail” was the inspiration for me to one day own my own beach bar but it would make a pretty cool story for the grand kids some day. The beach bar scenes were filmed at Dragon Bay Beach, Port Antonio in Jamaica. The beach bar is now called, what else, Cruise Bar. You can view a current photo of the beach bar here and here.

This clip features the classic tune “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” from Bobby McFerrin which, if I’m correct, was the first non-instrumental song to hit #1 on the Billboard charts.

  1. This movie has always spoke to me too. Yea, a tropical getaway, meeting new tourists each day, making enough to live in paradise. Its coming! Where do we start?

  2. I was just telling the story of how our ship the USS Antrim happened to be in Port during this filming. It was rumored that a couple of officers ended up as extras. Port Antonio is an amazing place.
