A new beach bar is coming to the Miami area and will be located at Newport Pier in Sunny Isles, just north of Miami. According to a press release from Newport Group as reported by miami.eater.com, “the 200-seat, upscale-casual restaurant on the water will feature a diverse menu (all in the hands of “25-year sushi veteran”, chef Mike Jin) of fresh, hand-selected sushi and sashimi, a fully stocked oyster bar and classic American favorites of seafood and steaks.” Miami.com reports that the menu will include “hand-selected sushi and sashimi cut daily by Chef Mike Jin, a 25-year sushi veteran, a fully stocked oyster bar and classic American favorites of seafood and USDA prime steaks.” The article goes on to quote Steven Hurowitz as saying that the new beach bar will be “a unique restaurant experience with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean catering to everyone from the suit and tie power lunch set, to the couple looking for a romantic setting to dine or an alternative for the South Beach crowd to sip and socialize on the sea.”
The pier was destroyed by Hurrican Wilma and reopened last summer.

I used to ride my Mountain Bike down Ocean Drive past Sunny Isles all the time. I lived in Hollywood Beach just to the north! Btw Sunny Isles is probably one of the nicest parts of Miami…

Thanks, Ryan! I read somewhere that they describe Sunny Isles as “Florida’s Riviera.” My in-laws live in the Canyon Lakes area of Boynton Beach and we’re heading back down to visit them in March. I’ll have to put Sunny Isles on our itinerary. You’re in a beautiful part of the country!
