I love it when I come across old photos of beach bars. I’m a huge history buff and the pictures are a snapshot of a specific time in the past of these colorful establishments. Discovering these photographic treasures doesn’t happen often so you can imagine my excitement when I come across some. When I found these photos of Bankie Banx’s Dune Preserve beach bar in Anguilla, I was beyond thrilled. Bankie’s Dune Preserve is consistently ranked among the best, if not the best, beach bars in the world so finding these photos is like finding that proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’ve never done a “Throwback Thursday” article but this seems like a good one to get started with.
The photographs of this Anguilla beach bar are from the Anguilla News website (no longer active) and were featured in an article from 1997 about Bankie’s annual Moonsplash festival, which is held at his Dune Preserve beach bar.
These pictures are from a review of the 2000 Moonsplash festival.

“Bankie Banx put it best, Let’s rock this boat!” Jimmy Buffett. I am so jealous…this place is now on my list!

I love music festivals and I’ve never been to Anguilla so Moonsplash is near the top of my wish list!
