Florida Beach Bars – Beach Bar Crawling from Key Largo to Islamorada

I’m headed to the Ft. Lauderdale area for 10 days at the end of the month (Boynton Beach to be exact) and was planning on taking the fast ferry to Freeport, Grand Bahama for a couple days and hit as many beach bars as I could. After determining that the amount of time involved in taking the ferry back and forth for just a couple nights wasn’t worth it, I started looking into flying down to Key West and doing a Duval St. bar crawl. That plan was nixed after I finally realized every minute on Duval St. would be one less minute away from the beach and I started looking into doing a road trip through the Keys. The more I looked into it, the more excited I became. Unlike the beach bars in the Ft. Lauderdale area, the beach bars in the Keys are actually on the beach or at least the waterfront. They appear to have more of a Caribbean islands vibe to them and to be honest, look a lot more like the kind of beach bars I want to spend some time at doing “research.”
This is where you come in. I need some recommendations of beach bars/beach cafes to visit between Key Largo and Islamorada. The great folks at floridabeachbar.com have already sent me their recommendations but I want to hear from you. If you haven’t been to one and you want me to check it out, let me know and I’ll put it on the list. Also, any connections you might have with the owners/managers/employees of these establishments would be a plus. I want to interview as many people involved with these locations as possible so if you could give me some contact information and put in a good word for me, it would be much appreciated. I might even send you a Beach Bar Bums koozie for your effort!
Already on the list: Holiday Isle Rumrunners, Holiday Isle Tiki Bar, Lorelei Cabana Bar, Alabama Jack’s, Tiki Bar at Gilbert’s Resort, and Snapper’s Waterfront Restaurant.
