When most people think of Atlantic City, the first things that come to mind are usually the casinos and the boardwalk. One aspect of life of life in this coastal bastion that is often overlooked by outsiders is its beach bars. While the toll from Hurricane Sandy forced Sammy Hagar into not being able to rebuild Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grill at Bally’s, many others reopened and this summer has been a boon for the beach bar business in Atlantic City. As summer hits its stride, we’ve chosen to highlight a few.
Beach Bar at Trump Plaza. Originally not scheduled to reopen in 2013, management at Trump Entertainment Resorts decided to bring it back for another year. The largest beach bar actually situated on the beach, it opened its doors Memorial Day weekend and will remain open into September. Photo source: www.oyster.com.
Bally’s Bikini Beach Bar. With a different theme for each night of the
week and a free concert series, this Atlantic City beach bar mainstay is back after
moonlighting the last few years as Sammy’s Beach Bar. Open through Labor Day weekend. Photo source: www.msatlanticcity.com.
LandShark Bar and Grill. Part of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville complex located at Resorts Casino Hotel, this beach bar is located on Staplechase Pier just off the boardwalk. As can be expected with any Jimmy Buffett-themed beach bar, mellow beachy type music is a major component. An added bonus – it’s open year round. Photo source: www.buffettinfo.com.
