I’ve experienced sunsets over more bodies of water than I can remember. There’s just something about enjoying the sunset on the beach as the last rays of the sun bounce off the water and add a little twinkle to the end of the day that I find magical. It’s a must for me on vacation. No matter what our plans are, they have to take into account the sunset because we only get to experience so many of them and it would be a shame to miss one because we were off doing the “touristy” thing.
As wondrous as the Caribbean sunsets are, my guess is the sunsets in the Maldives might give them a run for their money. A favorite spot to enjoy the daily sunsets for travelers to this area is Sundowners Bar, appropriately named for the beautiful sunsets one can experience from it. Located at the end of a short pier at Bandos Island Resort in the North Male Atoll, Sundowners gives you an unfettered view of the sun setting over the Indian Ocean waters.
Until we can all make it out there and enjoy this moment in person, the following images will have to hold us over.
