Tuesday Tunes: RAC, “Tear You Down”

Tagged: , , , , ,

I’ve featured RAC on the blog before (you can check out the article here) so I won’t go into his background in this posting. I heard “Tear You Down (featuring Alex Ebert),” from his new album “Strangers Part 1,” on a recent Hawaii Five-0 episode and immediately thought “beach bar playlist!” It has the mellow vibe required for liming on the beach and would be a welcome soundtrack to any sunset session. Consequence of Sound gets it – they describe the tune as “a sunny and percolating indie-pop cut that sounds as though Edward Sharpe are hosting the most joyous and dance-worthy island soirée. Slap on some sunscreen and listen below.”

On a side note, if you haven’t watched any episodes of the “new” Hawaii Five-0, I highly recommend giving it a chance. Even if you aren’t a fan of the show, the producers do an excellent job highlighting the natural beauty of the Hawaiian islands. I’ve also discovered a lot of great new music through the show (including some that I’ve featured on this blog). Stick around for the closing scenes for each episode – they’re among my favorites as they highlight the human side of the characters while playing some of that great new music in the background.

“Lay in the middle
I’ll be in the basement
Time the rhythm
Racing on the gold card
Hey, middle finger
Sticking through the eye
Of poor little thinkers
Made in the sun
I’m bleeding from the wounds
From cutting to the chase
From beating round the bush
Then burns when we embrace
And braces for the teeth
That long for what’s beneath
The skin that hides the fruit
From time, from the truth

LET IT IN
Let our love tear you down
AND BEGIN
To be found

Lets it to the silence
Of the rhythm of my bones decay
I’m still hiding from my mother
In the fatherland of manly faith
Woke up drunk on the job
My head was smoking from the US of A
Now I’m tearing down the drapes
Of complementary consequence

LET IT IN
Let our love tear you down
AND BEGIN
To be found
To be found

LET IT IN
Let our love tear you down
AND BEGIN
To be found

Lay in the middle
I’ll be in the basement
Time the rhythm
Racing on the gold card
Hey, middle finger
Sticking through the eye
Of poor little thinkers
Made in the sun
I’m bleeding from the wounds
From cutting to the chase
From beating round the bush
Then burns when we embrace
And braces for the teeth
That long for what’s beneath
The skin that hides the fruit
From time, from the truth

Say what, what
All the money went
You lie, you lie, you lie, you lie
Say where, where
All the money go
You lie, you lie, you lie, you lie

LET IT IN
Let our love tear you down
AND BEGIN
To be found
To be found

LET IT IN
Let our love tear you down
AND BEGIN
To be found”
